Chattanooga City Council & Office of the Mayor

Chattanooga Police Department

Fire Station #1

Fire Station #1, a 23,000-foot fire station, consolidates three older downtown stations into one new state-of-the-art facility. Located at 218 East Main Street on the Southside, it was designed to compliment the new neighborhood character outlined in the Southside Plan and services the entire downtown area.

CARTA Buses & Free Electric Shuttles

The city is served by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA). CARTA operates 17 bus routes, including Free Electric Shuttles in the downtown area which run continually until 11pm along Broad Street from the Chattanooga Choo-Choo on the south side to Coolidge and Renaissance Parks and the trendy Frazier Avenue shopping area on the north shore. Free wireless Internet is also available on certain "smart buses." You can park and ride CARTA’s Free Electric Shuttles in parking garages on Frazier Avenue on the Northshore and at the Chattanooga Choo Choo on the Southside. Parking fees apply. EPB Fiber

Chattanooga’s electricity distributor, Electric Power Board (EPB), offers the area's only 100% fiber optic network that connects area homes and businesses with phone, television and high-speed Internet access. EPB Fiber Optics services are available in many areas now, including all of Downtown Chattanooga, and they’re quickly building the rest of their service area.
