Welcome to a Few New Faces on our Board of Directors

With the start of a new fiscal year in July, RCC would like to welcome Chancellor Steve Angle, Mitch Patel, Jimar Sanders and Britton Stansell to our Board of Directors along with Mayor Andy Berke.

Dr. Steve Angle, Chancellor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, joined the board soon after assuming his role at UTC in July. Chancellor Angle served as Senior Vice President at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio where he oversaw an increase of research awards from $64 million in 2006 to over $100 million in 2012 and was the Executive in Residence at the Ohio Board of Regents.

Mitch Patel, President & CEO of Vision Hospitality Group, Inc., currently sits on five prominent boards in Chattanooga and has received recognitions such as the inaugural Chattanooga Times Free Press “40 under 40 Award” in 2004. He was also named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year by CityScope in 2011. Patel is active in projects with the Ronald McDonald House and Habitat for Humanity.

Jimar Sanders, an attorney at Miller & Martin, PLLC, has substantial experience in commercial lending and specializes in office space and land development, industrial retail and multifamily real estate. He serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga and for the Interfaith Homeless Network. Sanders is a member of three bar associations, including the Chattanooga Bar Association.

Britton Stansell, the general manager of the Republic Parking System, oversees numerous properties in the Chattanooga area and is a Chattanooga native. Stansell serves on the board of First Things First and is involved with other initiatives like the American Heart Association, Bible in the Schools and Calvary Chapel.

We also welcome Mayor Andy Berke as he assumes the spot on the River City Company board reserved for the Chattanooga City Mayor.

River City Company is excited to utilize the talents of our board members as they help us work to keep downtown working.
