Flock to The Block in October

The Block, announced in October 2012 in conjunction with RiverRocks, is the next catalytic project for downtown. The former Bijou Theatre space on Broad Street will consist of a flagship Rock/Creek retail store along with High Point Climbing and Fitness, a premier climbing and bouldering gym. Not only will this development add to the total downtown experience but also highlight the rapidly growing view that our city is an outdoor experience destination.

The iconic element of the project will be the 12,000 square foot sculptural façade public art piece with 6,800 square feet of functional climbing space anchored to the building facing Broad Street.

The Block’s potential to add an iconic element to our downtown skyline that compliments other attractions will be an incredible asset to our city and provide an interactive entertainment element as visitors and residents enjoy downtown dining, movies and other attractions. This project is unique, authentic and speaks to the Chattanooga experience and its creative entrepreneurship.

Construction has started on The Block with an anticipated opening date in September. High Point Climbing and Fitness estimates 200-300 daily visitors, approximately 500 annual memberships and hopes to attract regional and national climbing competitions. Rock/Creek anticipates annual traffic of 250,000 customers and 2 million in sales. There are two additional retail spaces available in The Block.
