Clean and Green = Success
Clean and Green = Success

With 750 volunteers on April 6th, downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods are definitely the cleanest and greenest they have ever been in our biggest downtown cleanup to date. Over 1,500 bags of trash were collected and more than 20 buildings and monuments were stripped of graffiti in the five downtown districts of City Center, Riverfront, Southside, MLK/UTC and Northshore along with the neighborhoods of Fort Wood, Glass Farms, Glenwood, Highland Park, Hill City, North Creek and Orchard Knob.

Along with traditional Clean and Green activities like litter pickup and graffiti removal, several special projects were tackled including building a community garden at the 21st Century Child Development and Learning Center and window washing crews in City Center.

A Clean and Green of this scale would not have been possible without the sponsorship from Volkswagen Chattanooga and our partners Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, Causeway, LifeKraze, Chattanooga Kiwanis Club and ServPro.

Please mark your calendars to join us for the next Clean and Green in April 2014. Be thinking of special projects you would like to see Clean and Green teams carry out next year.View pictures from this year's Clean and Green event here.
